May 29, 1968 ​

• A meeting was held at Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital with around 30 locals in attendance. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the development of a home unit village for aged persons.
  
• The first volunteer committee was elected.
• Sir Gordon and Lady Marjorie Wallace agreed to be patrons. The mission statement of the Committee was to provide services for the aged and to provide units for aged persons, along with possible residential domestic help.

December 16, 1968

• The corporate body was formed into a non-profit company limited by guarantee named 'Blue Mountains Villages Limited'.
• An annual fee of $2 per member was established.

August 27, 1969

• The first Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held. At the meeting, it was resolved to accept founder donations in advance for applicants for units, to allow building of blocks to commence.

May, 1970

• Nine units were completed, fully equipped with refrigerators, stoves, heating, and more.
  
• Founder donations were $4,000 for a double unit with a weekly tariff of $7, and $2,750 for a single unit with a weekly tariff of $5.

February, 1983

• A severe hailstorm damaged units, light fittings, screens, and doors.

1990

• The Village experienced a confrontation with the Building Workers Industrial Union due to the use of non-labor landscape workers being employed on a building site. Building work stopped, and tradespeople were not allowed back until the dispute was resolved.
• The Water Board demanded $24,630 as an amplification contribution fee to be paid prior to residents moving into units. The builders and the Board were previously unaware this fee would apply. Chairman Traynor, with help from local member Mr. Barry Morris, successfully obtained a refund of 50% of the amount from the Water Board.
• In September 1990, an important decision was made to arrange for the installation of the Vitalcall alerting system in the Village, providing private access for those in need of emergency health assistance.

2007

• The Village participated in an application by the Blue Mountains Region to be accredited by the Italian Cittaslow Slow Food Movement. Katoomba was granted a "Cittaslow" status, with the Village contributing through its focus on environmentally friendly use of land and space.
